Girl Interrupted

The recent stroms to my area have wreaked havoc with my modem!  I hope to be back up and posting soon after a little troubleshooting with my internet provider.  At least the time off line has helped me get ome projects done around the house.

My FaceBook Post - a Grass Root's Approach to Saving USPS

I decided to put this out there on Facebook and see if anybody takes me up on the offer.  This is something I encourage all of you to consider copying.  Literally or figuratively.  I'm all about a grass roots campaign to help.

My Post

"I am tired of hearing how the post office is doing poorly, so I am here to take action. The biggest reason people say they do not send mail is it costs too much, no time to write, or texting is so much quicker. Well for the next 10 people who like this post I will send you a piece or real mail. Maybe once you realize the importance of the TIME it took me to write this to you, the MONEY I spent on sending it, and the invaluable real physical connection it brings to you of me, then maybe you might reconsider the value this institution brings to us all!"
Much love!
Becky

And much love to all of you as well.

Collections

I have noticed that several people in the blogging community have magnet collections or get into other small items.  I am no different.  Here's my small travel magnet collection.

I usually pick these up at some of the different places that I have visited.  I do not pick one up at every location I go to, just ones that are a bit more special.  Most come from trips with friends or family.

Besides postcards and mail, what mementos do you collect?

Shhh it's a secret!

Hello all,
I had a great day yesterday.  On my way to the orchard for peaches, I stopped at a thrift store that I usually have very little luck at.  But as soon as I walked through the door, I spied a delicious book!
It's the Post Secret book!  If you are not familar, this is a project that was started as a public art project.  Basically people were encouraged to send in hand made postcards with a secret on it.
Feel a need to confess?  To get something out of your soul?  Grab some materials and make a statement.  If you are not in need of confession, than take a look at what others have sent in.
The front page was ripped out, but all the stickers were still present.  I wonder if the page being ripped out is due to some sordid secret?  Did it have an inscription that made its recipient so distressed that they tore out the page and tossed it in the donation box?  Did one of the postcards in the book contain a secret that the giver had sent in?  If only it would confess!

Rarely do I ever find any stationery worthwhile at this particular store, but today, bolstered by the above find, I looked.  The only thing stationery at all was this set of bagged bits and pieces.  I could not really peak, so for less than $2, I thought "Why Not?"
Above are some freindship and get well cards.
Below is a huge stack of neato!
I have a love/ hate relationship with fold overs and there were a good 20 or more in the bag.
And finally some books.  I think I may have to reuse the already in shambles car picture.  And did I mention that all the itemes with white tags were half priced?  So for less than $10, I got some goodies!

Happy Hunting!

An Office Space

I have been in this house long enough to have a few projects done.  I have many many more to get done with, but here is the tiny office put together in a much better way.
The before picture.  All 3 of the cats had to investigate.  I would say they helped, but after Alphonse knocked over the shelf a few times, I think better of boasting about his "helper" status. And yes he really is "that big"!  If he were human, I think they would say he was in the 90th percentile for growth.

Now my office space is T-I-N-Y (8 foot by 9 foot) so it was very hard to take photos in.  But here are the shots as best as I could accomplish.
Through the door one direction and below is the other.
I still need to work on clearing the desk and completely organizing the items.
Bookshelves and storage oh my!
Lots of stationery and postcards are housed in these!
I liked the idea of an alternative seating area and went to target for this ottoman.  Unfortunately I also bought more supplies.  Everybody knows that Target sells washi tape right?  There are 4 rolls in each set.  And a letter opener - needed that!
My shelf above the bookshelf.  I will probably put cork on either side for additional work space (once I find it).  My Dad made both for me once upon a time.
I think I still need to find a dog bed!  If one pet isn't watching me, I am sure another one will be.
The best invention ever!  A closet that automatically turns on its light whenever you open the door!  More shelving in here.  A person can never have too much!
A view of my beautiful backyard through a sudden downpour!  When it's sunny or winter, I am sure I will be in here often.

I know this wasn't technically stationery, but I have promised more pictures of the house as I go along!
I hope this finds you creating in a good space!
