You Asked for Free Ideas!

Hello folks,
Earlier this year I had posted on $1 finds for mail art. Today I will put some ideas out there for free materials or at least materials that you would otherwise toss.

First is calendars! I sure hope nobody out there tossed their pretty pictured calendars after the new year. They are terrific for making envelopes and reusing the small pictures for other. You can often get multiple of the old ones free from relatives and co-workers as well as recycle any that you may have purchased.

Envelopes are cut out and ready to be folded

Second are food boxes and labels. If you already buy these things, recycle the graphics! The makers have spent millions on packaging and promotion, so take advantage of their hard work and recycle. (I am self proclaimed princess of the Boca burger box!)

These are actually all ready to go in the mail and cost 65 cents to mail.

Third are security envelopes. These are well known to many of you, but here are a few examples of how my friend at Picadilly Post has used them. She really is a master at using the security envelopes.
Fourth are Chinese and Other Take Out Menus. They get placed on your door or car so why not use them! I especially like to make them into envelopes to mail things when we are celebrating Chinese New Year and use the stamps correspond so well to them!

Fifth is the recycling bin at work. You can use shreds to quill with, packaging to make postcards, and even old stickers from boxes to add character to your outgoing mail!

Hello all!
Thanks for being patient! Technology is wonderful except when it does not work. But I am glad to be up and running again!!! I have been staying connected to many of you through paper and pen which is why we should always have mail available! Unfortunately, I appreciated the time away from the distractions of the internet, so much so, that I think it may be awhile before I jump back into daily postings. Plus I have a new distraction besides my work, this blog, the huge back log of letters to respond to and daily living. I have also recently begun the huge task of buying a home! Until the house hunt is done, I will be sparse on the postings, but I will have much fodder to write about with the pen and paper!
Meanwhile I hope everybody is staying connected one way or another and that this post finds you all well and happy!

Sendsomething - o - versary!

Hello there!
I am still having some issues with my computer and will continue sparse postings till they are fixed, but I wanted to put in a plug for sendsomething.net! It has been 1 year and a few weeks since I joined the site and I must say its been an excellent opportunity! I have made several mail friends that I continue to write and keep up with. I have also had many one time mailings and postcards through the site. I know some have had less positive experiences, but I was very proactive when I started to find people to write so I think that has made the difference on the experience received through it.

A virus

As many of you may have guessed by now, my computer problems were a lot more extensive than first thought. I have caught a virus! So I need to get my precious (said like Lord of the Rings) laptop checked out by somebody and debugged.
I guess a virus is somewhat good, because it ensures that I will have time to write people back in a timely fashion. Unfortunately I will not be able to participate in postcrossing for a bit, but my letters will hopefully be a bit more creative!
Well, until my computer fells better, this may be the last post for awhile.

Delay in Posts

Sorry about the lack of posts this week. I am currently experiencing at home internet problems. These should be resolved soon. Meanwhile I am 3 letters from being caught up! Of course, I have not been able to check my P.O. Box since Monday, so this may be a fleeting accomplishment.

Why Do I Post Pictures of My Incoming Mail?

The title is the question and this is the answer. I typically like to showcase the letters I receive for many reasons, but the first and foremost is that before I started to blog, I loved to see my letters on other folk's pages. The sight of my mail and the words of joy expressed about my mailings from the recipient was enough to make my day!
I don't know if others feel this same pride/ thrill, but I am equal opportunity and like to put your work out there!

Cheer Up There!

Now that the holidays are coming to a close, I have the opportunity to put up a mail call for the troops. I have posted that I have a friend over in Afghanistan. We go back a bit (almost 10yrs) ! Woo time flies! Anyway, he is stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan and through a Facebook chat, we discussed that some of the other folks in his unit could use a cheer up. I thought about putting out a private mail call, but my friend is on the road often, so he would not be able to distribute anything. Then I thought, "Why try to reinvent the wheel?"
I occasionally make cards for Operation Write Home and these wonderful folks have been distributing the cards and letters for years. That's right, they also accept "any Hero" mail. Therefore, if you have time and are willing, please check out below.

Peek- A- Boo

I see you! Well more like you see my letter.
Awhile back I posted on a project that had been inspired by a book (see here if you don't remember 2 weeks ago - I often don't!) Anyway, here is another project from the book.

Wax paper envelopes. While being an interesting concept, I have done these before and do not like the results of straight wax paper. Perhaps it is because I like some surprise to my letters. I want to make people look at them and then eagerly tear to the sweet nougatty inner goodness - oh wait! Mail not candy- so I tried something similar but different.

It was simple really, just trace out an envelope with your favorite stencil. Cut it out and then trace some designs on it.

In this case I used flowers and made my first cut with an Exacto blade. I quickly switched to scissors. I then covered the inner cut outs with wax paper and cut a third contrasting flower for a label to be adhered to the outside.

I was not amused with the effort it took to make this and probably will not rush to make another. It's a shame really because it was so much cooler in my mind. I still show this project because I think there is a valid idea here and that different paper and cutout shapes may make a truly awesome design!

A Change in the Winds

Plans change. They can change rather quickly if foul weather is involved. And sometimes plans change for the better.
What am I referring to? This last weekend, a friend and I were set to trek to Philadelphia but Mother Nature decided to throw some lovely snow in our direction. I love snow and had been missing it, but I did not miss the mess that it made the roads.
I told my friend to come on over anyway but instead we headed down town and scoured the public library book sale! Neither of us needed anything in particular, but I did find a few I could not live without.

I have a thing for nonfiction travel stories and classics. When I will get the time to read these particular books is any body's guess!
And these are for using and giving away.

I fully intend on using the Envelope book when I can and the other may be yours if I find its content to be as fun as the title. We shall see my friends!

I recently received the most precious thank you gift from the winner of my Recycling Contest. Emilie made me this stamp.

I have never had a hand made stamp. When she asked if I would want one, I knew I wanted something to reflect my pen name, the snailmailer. It's the first thing I have gotten to reflect the pseudonym, but definitely not the last!

So as a thank you to Emilie, I am send you all her way. She created some cute and sarcastic postcards for Valentine's Day. I hope you'll take a look at them. And since I am always sneaking over to her blog, I added her to the blogroll for easier access.

A Few Nice Letter Writing Sentiments

I purchased another item of stationery - I now shocking!
But on the inside of the paper pack was this paragraph:

"The handwritten word on a beautiful sheet of paper is the purest art form- a soulful reminder of a moment in time, of a thought that needed expressing. No matter how stylish or simplistic the script, a letter captures the very essence of the writer and tells the receiver that there is no one more important.
Letters like works of art, are cherished. Kept in special places like secret shoe boxes or hidden drawers, a handwritten note will be visited time and again without ever losing its meaning or impact. I thought the sentiment was rather pretty and wanted to share. But as I can never be serious for too long I thought I would share quote from a recent letter I recently received. The letter had another interesting sentiment in regards to our blogging, letter writing community. Troy,(Penpalling Dad),wrote that we had both been mentioned in a new kid in the PO Box Block (Lucas Writes) blog post and that "it's kind of like an Arkansas family reunion - everybody is connected to everybody"
So true, so true - one big, happy, mailing ,dysfunctional(?), extended family!
And I cherish all your letters and postcards and heartfelt words!

A Few Projects

Iam trying to take more pictures of the mail I send out. Usually I am not very successful, but I continue to try. I want to grow in my creating abilities and comfort with making bits to mail. So here were a few projects.

Leftovers are used to adorn the front of this envelope. I like the dramatic effect of layering, but I only go really crazy on postcards!

Having a little fun with animals and prints. I am a fan of mixing them with quips.

A Little Piece of PA

Hello all,
I decided to stray from the mail and the incoming series for a bit - mostly because a long work day has resulted in a lack of photography ambition- and post on a unique Allentown institution.
The Allentown Farmers Market is not what I expected. I stepped through the doors almost a year ago and thought I would see produce galore. I was not prepared for the 2 aisles of food stuff that was stationed in stalls throughout a very long narrow building! Bakers, butchers, bulk food, wines, and olive barrels.

I would call it more of an immigrants market with a variety of traditional Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish foods but also Mediterranean (Greek and Turkey mostly), Vietnamese, Italian, Polish and other were represented.

It really is a great place to visit if you come to Allentown on Thursday through Saturday. You can swing by and grab a lunch or do some serious foodie grocery shopping. It's places like this that make a place wonderful and unique all at once. If only they had postcards, I would send them out by the mailbox full!

So Many Letters

Over the holidays, I got so many letters that I could not possibly keep up. I have made a huge effort to catch up since New Years and I am proud to report that most of the letters I have yet to respond to were all received this year!

A Contest

The fearless leader of our local paper craft group has left us. ABE (Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton) will be lost without a papercraft group, (well at least myself, Joanne and Nancy will be). We have decided to start a new one as our leader has moved the meet up to Denver, CO with her.
Nancy and I have tossed a few ideas around, but I am not sure any are to our great satisfaction. So I am opening it to all of you.
Here's what we mean to accomplish:
- be a creative meet up group revolving around paper but not really scrapbooking (there is a huge scrapbook meetup in the Valley already)
- Nancy and Joanne are Operation Write Home card makers
- We will do traditional stamping, card making, and all the crackpot stuff that I come up with
- Nancy and Joanne are VERY skilled and willing to teach new folks
- I am just weird and doing my recycling efforts but I did a show and tell an envie booklets and deco tape
- We also trade "unwanted" goodies - meaning "I can't use it, can you?" which is how I got my new favorite zebra tape!

Just leave the name suggestion below with an email. The best name (as we decide it) will win something out of my extensive stationery and postcards and paper goods stash (think stuffed 8 x 10 padded envelope)

I often get the comment from people that making mailart and being creative is expensive. I grew up poor and can remember that some of my favorite toy were ones that I made, and it still holds true that I love to make and design all kinds of lovely craft projects. I also like to shop as much as the next person (notice I didn't gender specify), but I am always looking for a deal. I refuse to pay full price for stationery unless its for a cause or from Etsy. So here are some more things I found last year for a $1 or less.

Why oh why I felt the need to buy these, I'll never know! As I have too much stationery already.

the Beatles! Yellow Submarine edition. I left Bob Marley and Nascar where they sat. Somehow I seem to find the randomness stationery.

Free! Paint chips. Gotta love free.

Remember, you don't have to spend a ton to make things cool- maybe I'll have to do a mailart post on freebies sometime, hmmmm . . . something to consider ; )

Some New Finds

While I have massively lessened my purchasing of stationery, I still manage to pick up a box here and there (darn my close proximity to a Marshalls, Home Goods, and Goodwill!!!) I figured I have not posted any stationery picks in awhile and I thought now would be a good time to share!

National Mail Week

Are you doing your part to send out letters and postcards? Just a reminder that tomorrow is hump day, which means half the mail week will be over then. Tonight I am sending out a handful of postcards since I have more than a few postcard stamps left and the price changes soon.
On another note, I was going to write a more interesting post than this tonight featuring some stationery finds from my various discount sources, but Blogger is being extremely uncooperative and not uploading photos. Hopefully tomorrow I can present some new objects for desire!

I rarely do 2 posts in one night, but I had to put this out there. I just watched a short movie called Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog and it was fabulous! I laughed till I cried! You Will Not Believe This Book!

I was not sure how to title this. I have recieved many wonderful things in the mail over the last year, but the book I am about to reveal was the best book I got this year. When I got the book and actually looked at it, well few items made me want to hug random strangers in the post office like this did : )
Malyss (her blog) and I have been corresponding for some time now. We both had the same idea this year, show some love and send a book (expensive though it was). She found this wonderous beauty!

This book answers the question of what would happen if you gave a group of art students in Paris, France the assignment of making mail art. They came up with some awesome paper crafts! And many of the paper crafts are not too hard to reproduce.

Now after you pick up your jaw and shake off some of your envy, I have something great to share . . .ready . . .I feel as though the best way I can share this book with you, is by recreating the mail projects within its pages step by step so you can see them for yourself! Something like this, really should be shared with the world, (or at least our mail loving esoteric community).
The first project is the one pictured above. I couldn't resist the drama, though it lacks practicality. I thought one of my friends children would adore it, thus the butterfly theme.
First

Add caption

A blank card with some hand scrolling on the front of it.

Second

Add layers and layers of cut outs. It is best if you use thinner and lighter paper as cardstock is too heavy and weighted. Unfortunately, mineis a wee bit flat because of the lack of lighter weight papers, but I am still very happy with the turn out!

Third

Thread bind it. I used some old metallic thread here. And finally, embellish to your hearts content!
I have no doubt that when this springs out of the envelope, the kids (toddlers) will love it! And really that is what it is all about.

Trash?

Have you ever dumpster dove? Scoured the trash bins at work? Pulled something off the top of the trash can and pocketed it? Let us all be honest here, we are among friends. Well the other day, I snagged this from traveling to the land fill.

What?!? I am not a beer drinker, preferring wine as my main form of alcohol, and had not seen these fun bits of design until they were in front of me at the dumpster. Go Land Shark! Thanks for encouraging the lost art of writing! I would encourage you to send a postcard of thanks to them, but their own website issues did not allow me to find a contact address.

And what a pretty pop-up card! I saw it on top at the post office trash can. I do not know what the recipient had against the sender, but I can see a repurposing opportunity going on here.

I still have a bit to refine my style, but I find the cutting up of ads very therapeutic and hopefully with enough time and honing I will be content with my efforts. Though I am sure the recipients do not mind my experimentation, and if they do, nobody is mentioning anything : )

Recycling Old Christmas Cards

Now that the holiday festivities are dying down, I just wanted to offer a few ideas on what to do with the Holiday cards you do not want to keep. Last year I had a list of disposal ideas (link here) This year I would like to add a another list of ideas.

I have all the cards from my Mom, work, and myself gathered, now comes the question, donate to St. Jude's Ranch or tear them apart and use them myself?

Envelopes Revisited

Several folks made inquiries about how to make larger envelope books so I revisited the task. I do not do the bigger ones too often strictly because I am uncertain what to put in all those slots.
Option A

Insert one flap into the other to make a 2 part envie book. See the above showing how they were inserted.

back after above step

Place one envie book to the flap of another single envelope.

Add the 4th and final to the inside of the first.

The finished product
Option B

Add end to end to end

Somebody had recommended one of these for photos and making a story book of a vacation or the like to give as a present.

In this version, I recommend a final flap cover

Option C
Not pictured but accordion style which would be flaps in one direction but alternating whether the flap was to your left or right.

Option D
Grab a stack of matching envelopes and just work it out : ) It's fun to mix and match directions.

Finally I recommend to decorate liberally

I would like to lay out my list for improving my blog, but after the whirlwind trip the last 3 days to Pittsburgh to visit a few friends, I am drawing a blank. So my proposal is simple, feel free to leave suggestions!

How To Get More Mail

(Warning, an attempt at humor was made)

In the new year many people have resolutions on ways to improve their lives. But how many of us stick to our new diet, exercise plan, financial plan, or really quit anything? Well one resolution that will probably not make the top ten national list is to get more mail. It helps to save the post office and mail in your mailbox is like Zanaxx in your coffee!!!! It makes you feel all lovely and calm inside.
Now I have long been told that nothing in life is free (though I argue taxes are definitely given out freely). So here is my crazy plan to increase mail into the old mailbox.

1) Start a blog and open a P.O. Box - (wait too close to real life ! )

2) Join Facebook and insult Ashton Kutcher while leaving your P.O. Box out there for anybody to send a reply.

3) Join Postcrossing and SwapBot and be an active member!!!

4) Join Sendsomething and put a quirky question up for any to answer. Although if you really wanted to increase your odds of being hit on a random search, join 5 times with 5 different profiles and try to appeal to mass audiences (muahaha - not tried, just thought I'd insert an evil laugh here)

5) Host a mail contest every month that required mailed in participation to win. (Again with the real life!)

6) Do a form letter insulting or loving (your choice really) the late night talk show hosts of every major network. Try to ask reasonable though not necessarily rational questions for a response.

7) Send out a self addressed and stamped postcard to all your family and friends to send back. Tell them you cry at night because you miss them so. Even if this is not the case, sympathy and pity can be weapons to your advantage. Unless of course your brother was a Navy man- then he just says "Boohoo cry baby, thanks for the stamp, I put it on a bill." (This has not happened to me, but knowing my brother . . . well let's just say it was not a great stretch of the imagination! )

8) Write a form letter to all your favorite companies and ask for coupons after telling them how much your life was improved by their latest, greatest product.

9) Become famous but controversial. Not only will the media bash you, but you will get both fan and hate mail!

10) Besides the last one, notice a trend? The most important and successful way to get letters and postcards is . . . drum roll . . . send one and allow for reply!!!! Ta da!

Okay it was not rocket science, but let us all do our best in the new year to help support the Post Office. Because without them, we would not have the opportunity to reach out to each other so easily and cheaply and with such great stationery!

Let's Here it for Mail

It's been awhile since I have had the time and (I'll admit it) the desire to post some of my incoming. The holiday season continues to swirl as I settle in from a long trip to "home" (aka Ohio). I actually have received and responded to much more than what I am about to show you, but I wanted to break this up a bit to let each letter shine.
First off, the wall of holiday cards. I have added a few more, but I did a group picture just to allow some privacy since the majority are photo cards.

On to other fun

Awhile ago I won a fun contest for creative mail. The pillow finally arrived just in time for the holidays. And no worries, I was a student once and understand the limitations of coinage when applied to mail! All the other note cards were bonus gifts!

The top card is from Juanita at There's Only Juan blog. She sent me a way cool stamp - below that is a scratch off to reveal the answer. I decided to leave mine intact for posterity!

One is postcrossing and the second is a private exchange from Annie. You'll probably be seeing a lot more from her as time goes on.

Family Christmas

Hell all,
I still have limited photos to put up as the camera is in one of the currently still packed bags. Anyway the weather held for my trip back to Ohio to visit the parents and family there. I quite happily got the one thing I had really requested! Any guesses???
Stamps! That's right all this mailer really wanted for Christmas was stamps : )

Have you all been as busy as I have? This crazy December has been a swirl of activity! I love the creativity that I get in the winter, when the leaves, flowers and sunshine are not a distraction this side of the equator. For some reason, I find the winter season, one of my happiest and always like to stay indoors and just make things. This year is no different, but unfortunately there is not enough time for all my hobbies!
This weekend I will be off doing the family holiday thing!

Highly Doubt They Will Peek

I promised to post a view of the 2 paper cuttings I got for my Mom and a brother. I know on occasion both have looked at this blog, but it is so rare, that I doubt they will see them before they unwrap their gifts this weekend. (We are having an early holiday since a few of the family are in the medical profession).

12 days of Christmas

Paper cutting goes back to the ancient Chinese days. The Pennsylvania Dutch still give paper cuttings as a traditional gift for several events (births and marriages). Look at the details! It is wicked tiny! And done by razor blade. I would not want the sneezes while carving these out.

Sending and Recycling

One thing I love more than sending or receiving a fun and interesting letter is making care packages - huge heart here!- !!! Recently, I was looking to consolidate my remaining stationery and knew I had a few beautiful boxes almost empty of their stationery (not stationary) contents. I hated to toss them. What memories and beauty! What to do?

How about combining some of my loves? Here are some examples of the compact care packages I am sending out to a few pen friends. It was fun to let go and I hope to eventually slow the accumulation and increase the home made pieces!

I like this holiday card very much, but could only score a handful of them at the Dollar Store!

The Ladies are Back in Town!

That's right they are back together and crafting!
I am super happy to announce that the Cardoholics Anonymous group, a local paper crafting meet up, is back to cutting, gluing, embellishing, and folding this winter!!! I have to say that if any of you ever have the opportunity, you should seek out a group of crafters to join. Bouncing creative ideas around and problem solving together, really, really help you unleash your creativity to the fullest extent. Many times they have struggled with the same materials and will tell you what has worked for them and what they find does not work at all. Plus you can introduce them to new materials like washi or deco tape.
I know many in this group are focused on mail art, but do not discount the creative talents and ideas of scrapbookers, traditional card makers, rubber stampers, and book binders. Just ask to bring your own thing and be amazed at the suggestions that roll your way! I think the true spirit of crafting groups should be to inspire one another to play outside the box or try something different.

Upcycle- Weird Envelopes

Hello mail land and a special welcome to Luxemborg!
I have a tracker on my views that tells me the countries the viewers are from, and I saw Luxemborg for the first time today- so welcome and yay!

For all the rest, I hope this finds you all ready to create!
Project 1
The first envelope idea is borrowed from the talented Pamela and I believe I have shown it before, but here it is again.
Start with a brochure of some place fun. I gutted this one because it was a rather thick brochure and saved some of the inner images to cover other addresses on the exterior.

Add tape.

Finish and mail.

I figure if a picture is worth a thousand words, a brochure could inspire a short story!

Project 2
I have recently become addicted to double envelope books. I usually just make a 2 part one, but you could easily add in a third and fourth envelope to vary the design.

Take 2 leftover similar envelopes.

Insert one flap inside the other and adhere the outer 2. Above is the front view and below is the back view.

The inside after some embellishment. The letter is to the left and some goodies are to the right.

Tape the othe 3 sides. I usually only partially tape domestic mail, so people can easily cut it open. And I usually clue them in to where to cut on the back so the wonderful book effect remains!

If you don't get too crazy with stuffing, it should mail at a normal rate! I have no problem with the creation of these multipart structures (3 or 4 envelopes), my block is what to shove in to the various compartments without making them cumbersome!
A nice variation is to put the envelopes end to end to make a long fold out. I have yet to make one and mail it, but I have recieved one from a sendsomething aquaintence!

Bethlehem is Christmas City USA

Hello all,
I know that usually the Pen Thief posts on interesting cancellations available. But this one is all mine! I live in Christmas City USA (aka Bethlehem, PA). If you are interested in a holiday cancellation, you can send your letters to one of the many post offices on this list by the USPS. I was a bit surprised to see Bethlehem's sister city just North of town, Nazareth, PA (home of Martin Guitar), also on the list. I was told today that Bethlehem's postmark is the Moravian star.

The star can be seen all over town and honors the town's founders, the Moravians - a religious sect that came to Pennsylvania like so many others seeking freedom to worship what they wanted.

Fun Letter

Hello all,
One of the letters I responded to recently was this fancy note from a fellow on sendsomething. The picture does not do the letter justice!

There are built in envelopes and packages that contain other little notes and pieces. The edges are woven with 2 ribbon materials and scalloped. All in all, a very special note! The sender said he was really into taking the time to hand craft something special for people he writes.
The front envelope panel is also made of woven paper and on the back (not pictured) is a hand drawn scene of a tree! It is really nice to receive a letter made with so much care and time!

Through the Mountains and Under the Lakes to Mother's House

There's a well known song that says "Over the mountain and through the woods, to Grandmother's house we go" With a few changes (above) this has been my trek. I am back to see my family over my favorite holiday Thanksgiving! Food will abound and we will all bicker and play games. Then tomorrow, the hunt begins! Black Friday shopping in ungodly early hours of the morning.
For my part, I just want to say that I am thankful for all of you and the pen friends I have made!

Dang, I Forgot my Camera!

Do you ever have those moments when you wish you had remembered to bring your camera? Well today was one of those days for me. I had planned on going to the public library and then seeing if I could find the Artsquest center at the Bethlehem Steel Stacks. I had no issues finding either, but I was surprised at the sprawl of the Steel Stacks complex and my huge desire to take photos of the structure! The rustic brick and industrial steel towers of the iron works building were really interesting.

Another reason why I headed to the Artquest center this weekend was it was the first weekend of Christkindalmarkt - A German style artisan market. Bethlehem was named Christmas City USA in the 1940's and has hosted this market for many years.
While there I saw several goodies! But I only walked away with some small German papercutting ornaments. I have discussed it before on this site, but have yet to attempt it myself. I cannot even image trying something as intricate as they are! I will resist posting the pictures for now in case my family peeks as I plan to give these as gifts. (Who am I kidding, they have no interest in my mail hobby - sigh!)
I know it has nothing to do with mail, but I love all types of papercraft!

On Sunday, I also trekked over to the newly renovated and re-opened Allentown Art Museum. I am not a huge fan of the Renaissance but I do hope to go back there as they rotate exhibits for more contemporary artist.
I found some great mail related postcards and made a piece of stationery in the kids craft section.

I refuse to grow up!

Where does time fly, on the wings of migrating hummingbirds? Or does it drift like a leaf down on a breezeless morning to the ground? Either way, it is flowing day by day.

Hello all,
I was just working on my postcrossing as a lot of my cards were registered this week after making long trips to China and Russia. I decided to get my new victims and low and behold they are all living in France! (Notice I did not say French) I had the ability of drawing up to 5 people - what are the odds they would all be from the same country? I have drawn 3 from Russia in a row and 2 lived in the same house, but not only have I never had any from France as of yet on Postcrossing, I received 5 in one day? I think the lottery is calling my name to play today. Too bad all my spare money goes to stationery and stamps!

P.s. For those of you who do not know about Postcrossing; It is a web site that you register for and it matches you with random addresses of people who would like mail - usually tourist postcards but they usually write a paragraph or so to tell you what they want. You in turn get a postcard for every one you send (give or take depending on whether it gets lost or not). It is supposed to be a random assignment and a surprise until received, but as you can see, sometimes it's not so random. The site is free, but the biggest drawback is the international postage can be expensive. Take sending 5 postcards to France for example.

Veteran's Day

For all of the other countries that visit today, today is our country's Veteran's day. A day to honor the soldiers who have fought in wars. One thing you may not know about me is that 2 of my siblings are Veterans. I support our troops through Operation Write Home partly because a good friend of mine is deployed in Afghanistan. But what I really, really wish for, pray for, hope for is peace.

The purple heart is a medal of valor awarded to Veterans wounded in battle. It's one of my favorite stamps for postcrossing because it's small size, but both the medal and the stamp have been around for many years.
I hope you all have a reflective Veteran's Day! Happy for those who made it home, hopeful for those still serving, and remembering the too many who did not make it home.

Book Sale = Mail Art Opportunities

Hello all of you out there in mail land!
I first want to say that if you have not read my blog long, you may be surprised (or not) to find that I am a bit cheap. Not about everything, but I sure like a deal. So here is a big tip to many of you, I rarely buy books from bookstores! I usually try to stock up at library, yard, and charity sales. Usually the books go for a dollar each, give or take, and are in decent shape.
Why talk about books on a mail blog? Because they are terrific sources of inspiration! Just look at the fun ideas!
Here are some of my finds at the final Bethlehem Public Library book sale of this year!

Nonfiction books about people's travels. I love this genre of literature.

I like travel stories like these because they help me understand other cultures. Usually they are written by Americans about their perspectives and experiences in other cultures. Although Holy Cow was written by an Australian, it is one of my favorite of this genre about travels in India!

I love the cover of this book!

Not only is the above book pretty, but I am hoping to use the letters inside to liven up a letter writing slump I seem to have gotten into with one of my pals. I have ides that should be fun!

The above 2 books are all advertisements from the 1940's - Squeal!!!! I hate to tear up the books, so I may try to scan them or copy them and see how that works before I take scissors to them.

Pamela from Cappuchino and Art recommended a long time ago that I consider looking at as many artists works as possible to help shape my own tastes and preferences. Therefore I am always looking for more art books and the design book seems to be some kind of college book but looks cool.

The above contain all kinds of small projects. The best thing is they can be adapted to fabric or paper and provide easy cut-out shapes. My brain goes crazy with ideas on how to adapt these to mail!!!

Self- explanatory!

The above book has a whole section on ready to mail journals and accordion card! Can't wait to try it!!!
Once I am done with my fiction and non-fiction books, I tend to pass them on. Either back to one of the charity book sales or on to a fellow friend. I know little about it, but hope the Postmuse will stop by to tell us more in the comments as I know she is/was a member of that group.

Gel Pens and Postcards: A Modern Tragedy

I sigh with anticipation when I open my post office box. I love to peer in and see all the pretty mail and postcards that people send. I finger them and absorb both sides with my eyes rapidly moving from left to right. Then I spy tragedy
A gel pen that has encountered moisture in transit!
My dear friends, gel pens bleed with any moisture and can smear on most glossy papers. I love them as much as the next gal, but I try to use the pretty pens on the interior only. A lesson learned the hard way.

So remember, friends do not let friends use gel pens on postcards and address labels.

Halloween Fest - I'm Going as a Busy Beaver!

Hello all,
As many of you have probably hear, the East coast got nailed by a freak snow storm that took out trees and left many without power. I on the other hand was fine. I was spared power but lost cable, Internet, and phone service - oh no! How to communicate with the outside world????
How about a few letters?

Here's most of my catch up pile from yesterday! One more letter and I will have September replied to (good thing since November is knocking and the October stack awaits!)

The Weather Outside is Frightful, But Stationery is so Delightful

Hello all,
I'm sure a few of you have heard of the bad weather that is traveling the lower Eastern coast. Some may wonder what's the fuss? Well like many folks, I am a transplant. I hail from somewhere that has a lot of snow, South of Lake Michigan! That usually means I do not mind a lot of snow - with the exception of when the trees are fully leafed! All the weight of the leaves and snow are breaking branches at an alarming rate and cutting off power.
I'm not always a quick learner, that means I had to see it first hand. So I decided to go to Goodwill today and see what I could find, and find I did!

Naughty Betty stationery

Apparently Target could not get rid of their Naughty Betty stash (there were probably 10 of these total) There were also tons of Christmas and Baby Shower cards - none of which spoke to me. Perhaps I am getting picky with my stationery hoarding?
But not picky enough to stay away from the TJ Maxx next door. I shamefully say that I truly lacked the ability to say no there. But look at what I found!

Back to the slow learning part: After some shopping, the lights began to blink in the Marshall's and I thought "Crap, what if I lose heat?" So I started the trek home, only to pass tree after tree that had dropped major branches on the roadway! I had to turn from my course, 2 -3 times and take alternate routes.

Guess Mother Nature knows best, but would have suggested to wait a few more weeks before the first big snow. I would like to write her and express my opinions, but I don't suppose anybody has her mailing address?

Fun Recycled Materials!

Hello all,
It's been a bit in the making but here it is folks - the winner of the recycling blogoversary challenge! First I'd like to say that I tend to like advertising and the re-use of daily household items. I also like a challenge and the chance to inspire others through my actions. I think I achieved all these goals with this competition.
First - Daily items were re-purposed and sent as mail by all who entered!
Second - I am challenged to make items as beautiful as the ones I received
Third - Many of my coworkers were caught ogling and touching the merchandise (which was encouraged!), and I heard them say how much they liked to receive mail but never got any anymore. My comment back is that to get a letter, somebody needs to send one, so perhaps they should start the chain reaction! And yesterday, one of my coworkers said "I want to mail this to my daughter"- referring to a piece of mail we had received with an illustration on the front! Score 1 for me!

VaGirl sent my this creation of 2 sweet treats. The back is from a Hershey's cookie and cream white chocolate bar. The paper is calendar of some sorts. VaGirl is new to the world of mail art and I hope she continues as this envie is stunning!

This really was not and entrant in the contest, but when Annabell's postcard arrived amidst the early part of the competition, I thought it was a great display of recycling and threw her postcard into the old hat.

Marian is a student and fellow PA'er. She did an envelope out of a bicycle magazine and paper was from a calendar!

Emily at Winnie's Girl sent a gobstopper candy box with a wonderful booklet made from her favorite beer boxes!

Kimi sent this nice treat of matching envelope and paper from a Trader Joe's grocery bag. I have never been to a Trader Joe's but I love the graphics!

Lisa made a whole lot of wonderfulness to send my way! The envelope and paper were from a clue game and the postcard was a compilation of the a recent bath and body ad and various other recycled pieces. I too saw the ad and thought cool graphics, but what would I do with it - well now I see!

My dear Malyss sent me 2 postcards that she made from recycling various papers. I think the ladies really liked them and the stamps. They were shocked to see the French stamps. It seemed so rare to them to get mail, let alone from France! She may have opened some eyes on that one. Malyss has a pictorial blog.

And finally, one of my favorites just because of it's sheer simplicity, is a recycled stamp postcard from Katherine in Great Britain! I somehow think its beauty was lost on my coworkers. I'm not sure they realized the stamps were real!

And the winner is #6 - Emily from Winnie's Girl Blog! One of the comments I received was "Beer and Candy, Yummy!" Everybody will receive a thank you and at least a single piece of stationery for their own use. Emily will get to choose her own gift package!

Hello all,
I hope you can all indulge me on a kind of mail related subject though its a stretch. I have a guilty pleasure - well one of many besides stationery hoarding. I have been a fan of Project Runway for years!!! And I also have a fondness for some other competition reality TV shows, but Project Runway is my favorite of all!
I often feel as though it pushes the edges of creativity by forcing people to make quick decisions and use interesting materials. I like to reflect this in my mail creations. I've made envelopes out of duck tape, brochures, empty truvia bags, magazines, calendars, and such. I also like to use can labels as stationery - a Warhol moment? Through all of my creations and mishaps, I hear the voice of Tim Gunn whispering "Make it Work" so I try. Oh Tim! How I wish you were a mailer!
Anyway, congratulations to this season's winner of Project Runway Anya! (Josh you were robbed and much more will be heard from you!)
Tomorrow I should have the announcement as to who won the recycling competition!

Hello all,
I am trying to get back into posting on a routine basis now that the end of October is near and snow is openly being discussed as a possibility for the higher elevations of Eastern PA. With winter so close, I am glad to report I am looking forward to catching up on mail and starting a few endeavors of my own.
First, I'd like to create more mail art and thankfully I have art museums locally to inspire some creations.
Second, I've been in talks with some local people about creating our own creative co-op, so maybe that will be on the horizon soon. We're still in talks right now.
Third, I've been making plans with friends for some museum and destination trips. Hopefully a few folks will commit and I'll have a group to travel with. If not, I cannot wait to go to some new places on my own!

Hopefully this finds you all well and happy and ready for the impending cold weather in the North!

Return of Friends and Chocolate Covered Potato Chips

Hello all!
It's been another adventurous weekend exploring Lehigh and Bucks County with my friends. They were so cute and wanted to take to go to only places I had yet to explore, but we ended up going to mostly places I had been. Why reinvent the wheel when spetacular places like Fonthill and downtown Bethlehem already exist?

Jim Thorpe and Chocolate Covered Potato Chips!

Hello all,
I started this post when while the family was still visiting and now I'll finish (no time lapse there, its like I blink and October is almost over!)
On Saturday we started in downtown Bethlehem I took the family to the Chocolate Lab. A cute boutique next to the Moravian Bookstore (previous post here) We got to shop the store and I purchased semisweet chocolate covered potato chips! Yummy, yummy! A little sweet a little chocolate and a lot gone- sorry folks, no photos of these tasty gems. But here are some goodies and postcards of the Moravian.

Sunday we went on a train ride through the Lehigh Gorge State Park. You can jump on the train at Jim Thorpe, PA up in the Blue Mountains - part of the Appalachians. For history on Jim Thorpe, check out an old post by the PostMuse. It was an amazing and pretty, short ride through the fall foliage. I also scored some postcards along the way.

And another note about Jim Thorpe, PA - the Asa Packer Mansion is located there and is the most original and authentic Victorian Manor available for tour. When the last family member died, the house was boarded up with all its contents and a caretaker was hired to look after it for 50yrs before anybody was interested in preserving the house. Somehow nothing got vandalized or destroyed and the house is now up for show. It's a gem!

I wish I had a few more dollars to buy the bumper sticker that said I survived the climb to the Packer Mansion! My flat lander Mom was not enthused.

Well folks this weekend will be another blur as I have some friends coming to town. Sorry that October has been kind of a bust on the blog scene, but I hope you won't give up on me and please enjoy my travels!

Documenting my Travels Through Notes and Postcards

Hello all,
My family is still visiting me from Ohio, so I thought I would throw up a quick post about the many postcards and note cards I have gotten on my travels with them.
First my Mom brought me these watercolors done by a local artist in the county south of where I grew up. They are based on historic photos of current and past landmarks. But I think they will be nice for postcrossing.

Then we went to the Michner Art Museum in Doylestown to see the amazing art quilt exhibit. They had a wide variety of postcards.

Finally today we went to downtown Bethlehem and I snagged these beauties from the historic society. Remakes of retro cards documenting the old downtown.

Finally from the roof of the central parking garage- here's a picture looking North to my section of town.

An Announcement

Hello mail friends,
With a heavy heart and an even crazier schedule, I have come to a conclusion that quality is superior to quantity. With that revelation, I have decided to stop taking mail through my blog. I will continue with Sendsomething, the many mail friends I have already made, and Postcrossing but I want to maintain a timely return on letters to those who I have been already in correspondence with and am trying to make lasting connections with them! I may open up the blog P.O. Box to the public again, but I need a break right now!

Revisiting Old Haunts

Hello all,
Well I promised to do something fun in celebration of my blog's 1 year anniversary, so I decided to check one off the old list! (I have a literal list of places I want to visit in the Lehigh Valley area) For today's adventure, I went down to Doylestown and returned to Fonthill (previous visit) and the Moravian Tile Works to walk the grounds. Then I zipped over to the Mercer Museum which was created by the same man as the other structures and is an amazing labyrinth of vignettes and stairs and everyday objects from the pre-industrial revolution time period.

I can tell you that my photos do not do this place justice! I think you would need a wide angle lens to take in all the layers of floors and stairs and twisting rails. It was a real challenge for me to look around since I have a fear of heights.

OMG It's Been a Trip

Dear readers!
Can you believe it? It's been over a year (9-20-10) since I started this crazy journey. A lot has happened in that time. I have learned to navigate the on line world of pel palling and mailing. I've become much more acquainted with the Postal codes and rates. I've sent and received amazing mail, learned what mail art is, found a way to be crafty and donate my papercrafts, found amazing people to correspond with and started to travel the world through stamps, postcards, and photos! In general, my life has been enriched! Thank you all for participating in this last year of exploration.
I think today calls for a celebration! Destination unknown, but sure to have some photos!
Before I started I didn't even know there was a Falkland Island or dream of stamps from India. Now I want more of the world, folded and sent in the pages of a letter. As far as the future of this blog goes, I will have to make some fundamental decisions soon about quantity versus quality. But I really wanted to post a big thanks to all of you.
As many of the mail bloggers write, "To get a letter, send a letter!"

This Week is the Start of Something Big

The title has nothing to do with the content, or does it? My mail week started slow and then built like an avalanche, though the ending was definitely less destructive than an actual avalanche. Although to be fair, a lot of this weeks big surprises were posted on Monday. Thanks again Malyss, Speck, and Wanda!

Recycle Challenge

Hello all,
I had a few previous post on recycling random materials into mail. Then I had the brilliant idea to hold a contest for my 1 year blogoversary on upcycling (recycling). Link here for details.
So far I have received one entry. I will give you a Clue on the inspiration.

The hard part is the writing paper. The letter is on the back of the Clue tally forms!

Only one thus I have concluded you all need more inspiration, so here it is.
I decided to recycle this stationery box. I really liked the information on the inside and I did not want to disturb the integrity of the images.

I did an easy approach and just opened and trimmed the flaps.

I wrote the letter on the back of the packaging. Fold-overs have been the bane of my existence, but I like this one!

Here it is all folded and this is the back of the package. I hope the recipient enjoys the colorful package!

My French Love

I thought I'd throw up some pic of a few random boxes of stationery that have been added to the stash.

I still love Paris and Paris themed stationery. I recently added this box to my collection! As the Pen Thief posted tonight, remember to check out Marshalls and TJ Maxx for close out prices on boxes of stationery like this one!

I also love arty stuff. This was a cute box and has a French connection. (Matisse was part of an art movement that occured in Paris).

These are 3 great cards I got for $1 from a thrift store. I think I'll be saving them for Valentines Day!

And finally, I love the vintage Halloween themed cards! With the recent cool in the air, fall is around the corner! My favorite season!

Yearning for Yesterday

Hello all,
I have been recently thinking about the days gone by, and the years before this world were dramatically changed by technology. Part of the look back was due to me leafing through my photos of Sauder's Village in Ohio. It's a living history museum built by Erie Sauder to commemorate the days he grew up and the times before then.
Back then a letter or postcard was the main way to keep in touch, with written language being a skill that required no more than a pen and paper and a fluidity of words. If you have ever heard any of the Ken Burns PBS Civil War documentaries, you realize that today's letters lack a lot of the descriptive and emotional undertonings of yester year. We get to the point quickly nowadays. Sometimes I wonder if its too quickly. Maybe we should explore the point a bit longer and really try to understand it before moving on. With our postal service in trouble, it is nice to remember where they came from.

Hopefully they can move along with the times, but meanwhile here's a look back. If you are ever in NW Ohio maybe think about stepping back in time and taking a look around Sauder's Village.

It's a Conspiracy

Well Friday started out like any other. I slowly got myself around and headed out on errands. In my running around town, I stopped in and picked up mail at the P.O. Box. I was expecting a package, but what I found was a bit surprising.
I did find a package but not the one I was expecting. Instead there was this envelope from Speck at the PurplePenhead Blog stuffed with goodies.

In a recent note to her, I believe that I complained my stationery was taking over. Well in her lack of pity, she decided to unloaded her surplus on me!

Look at all the gorgeous stuff. Although I wasn't really looking for any new items, I did almost pee myself when I saw the Nancy Drew fold and seals! I have long admired, mentally fondled, and drooled over them on line. Sigh- so love the package I did, though I didn't want to. Whispers of the word "hoarder" float in my brain.

Then my darling Malyss sent me a colorful and wonderful surprise! I can read Spanish at a beginners level but not French. So these are even more exotic not knowing what they say! Love them!!! -stationery hoarder- I need help!

So 2 wonderful and unexpected surprises! But then I opened one more. Wanda and I have been writing for awhile to each other and more than not she includes some fun pictures!

The royals are an elegant couple, aren't they! I always love getting things like this and she even put them in a hurricane themed envelope- chuckle- after hearing about Irene's trek through my area.

Thank you ladies! I appreciate the fun packages and mail very much!

Amazon- not great news

Hello all,
I was getting around to reading the local paper this morning when my eye caught site of an article about the mega on-line retailer Amazon.com. I have recently made a few purchases through them largely to support our local economy. We have a huge Amazon warehouse in located in the Lehigh Valley (where I live currently).
The news was not great- (check out story). They apparently are very abusive of their workers. I'm sure there are 2 sides to every story, but until I hear more, I think I'll be buying off Etsy. At least most of Etsy supports small businesses and artisans.
Not that I need much because my books are from exchanges or garage sales and I have stationery stuck everywhere throughout this apartment!

I know I usually post the letters I have received/ responded to on weekends but I got a postcrossing the other day from Trinidad and Tobago!!!

I have a feeling this country is not very involved in postcrossing because the number was still in the hundreds. To better explain for those not involved with the site, each card has a registration number based on country of origin and the number sent. So if I sent a card to China it would be US-111111 (actually I think the US has surpassed this!). My Tobago card is only TT-800- ish. Meaning I got a great present!

Hello All,
I was looking around this morning on the Internet. My eye was drawn to a post about thrifty mail finds and on the sidebar, I saw this gem of a blog.
Life in a Typewriter Shop
After my recent late birthday gift from my mother, I find my heart has grown more fond of the clickety clack of the old typewriter. Is it nostalgia? Our desire for simplification? Or something more tactile that is bringing back the old typewriters?
I was told by an antique dealer that we are in a trend right now. Ten years ago he could not sell a typewriter, now he can not find them to sell them!

Idea for a Blogoversary Give Away

Hello all,
My one year blogoversary is coming up and I have been thinking about releasing some more of my stationery out into the world. After my recent purchases at Goshen, the boxes are now overflowing with goodness. So much goodness that if I stopped buying materials and just used what I have, I could write for the next 5 years without any issues. Yes, it's that out of control- the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Anyway, I was pondering a contest of sorts. In light of my recent post on recycling- I was considering a recycling or upcycling contest. I would have my fellow coworkers judge it and pick out what they considered the most inventive use of materials. Entrants are open to all sections of the world. They must include the following contact information: A name (pen names are fine), address, and email. And if it's hard to guess what you used as your materials- please enlighten me! ) It may mean the difference between winning and not.
A note on email- part of the reason I would like that is to tailor the package to your tastes. I have a wide variety of postcards and premade stationery but I could also send raw materials like paper, rubber stamps in my collection, used postage stamps, and so on.
If this sounds good to all of you, let the give away begin! Mail entrants must be received by October 8th.

Let's Recycle! Mailart for less!

Hello All,

I know that we all get wrapped up in our own heads that we NEED the latest and greatest NEWEST gadget to create. But deep down, I know we all know that is not true. It may be buried really deep down- but its there! So here is some free or cheap ways to make an impact.
I like textured or shiny paper so here is some free stuff from the paint aisle.

Of course other inspiration can come from trash - can labels and old food boxes are fun to use as envelopes. In an effort to challenge myself and create something for free I did the following:
My writing paper came from a chopped up security envelope

The envelope came from some jewelry ads

Here's the final package with a paint chip serving as a label

Good times and all I have in it is some tape, glue and postage! Even the ink was free (a promotional pen given out by a hotel). Remember mail can be fun and cheap! I gaurantee it will be enjoyed by the recipient!

Hello all!
I know its been awhile since I posted my incoming mail. The trip home was a nice break, but not very fruitful in the letter response department. Perhaps, that adds fodder to write about, but makes me a tardy mailer : )
Well let's jump into it!
Most are from postcrossing- and yes I get letters through there as well! Many of the people look at the blog and some decide that a letter is more appropriate. I am really find with anything I get!

I hope this finds you all well. I first want to thank you all for all the recent comments. Seems my trip and goodies have inspired some mail envy- in a good way! Well yesterday I also got great news that I won a prize from Sabrina's blog at Your Items Delivered. It was a mail art competition of sorts.
So William and Katherine will come live with me! Which is too funny, as I really did buy into the whole fairytale wedding thing. God Save the Queen and Keep Calm and Carry On and Tallyho my fellow wannabe Brits!

Final Notes From My Visit Home

Hello folks!
How time flies! It seems like I was just starting my vacation and then it was over. Sigh- but lets relive some of the mail related fun that I had while home.
First- Mom got me a typewriter! I asked her to look for one during the annual Highway 127 garage sale. The sale runs through several states and takes place in early August (that's right hundreds of miles of bargains!) She found this oldie, it is so neat and was well maintained.

I typed my first letter on it while home. I forgot that you had to go much slower than you do with a computer which lead to a few mistakes. But I'll try again once I get it all set up. Oh and curiously the machine does not have an exclamation point. How ever will I make it!?!?
My Aunt gave me these beautiful old fold overs. Apparently her mother had passed them on to her, and she's too busy to really write (per her). How can you not like these? They each have a different saying on them to make a poem.

And finally a few pictures of the farm and local landscape! This is the area I grew up in. Think what you will of it. And yes it is that flat.

Day 2 - Goshen Finds

Hello all,

As promised I thought I'd show you the rest of my finds! First off at the Whistle Stop (the same place I wiped out the postcards) I found

2 sets of new cards with natural paper envelopes

Some fold and seals- unfortunately with a religious theme

Some old square Vincet Van Gogh notecards for a whopping 50 cents

A dozen home made wall paper foldovers. For 50 cents- I'll give it a go! Remember folks, some people make things to donate since this is a charity.

I also got an old music book to make stationery out of and had a great visit with Emily. Em is and old friend and a reader of my blog, so she totally understood when I bought out the postcards!

Anyway, I should be off to bed as they get going early down on the farm.

Postcards, Postcards, Postcards!

Dear Friends,

I am on vacation, how are you all? I decided to take a few days off over the Labor Day holiday weekend and enjoy a visit to my parents house in Western Ohio. I also made plans with a few friends to meet up and hang out. One of my favorite quaint towns to visit is Goshen, Indiana - a mixed Mennonite, Amish, Mexican Immigrant, Bohemian community! It's an eclectic mixture and the town is filled with thrift stores, artisan shops, and antiques. I have found many wonderful buys and interesting ideas in these stores and today was the best of all!!!!!

Oodles and oodles of postcards- somewhat sorted.

This is 200 postcards or $20! They are amazing and most all are high quality travel cards!

As the title implies, I found a haul! For 10 cents (or less) a piece, I found all kinds of beautiful postcards and many would be considered late vintage!

This is where we went! To the Whistle Stop Mennonite Resale shop. The monies go to their missionary work. And things are at bargain price!

These were also included in the bundles- both sets from China and less than a dime a piece!

These were being sold all over town!

These are AWESOME and part of the ten cent group advertising Goshen at its finest!

Made money on this one- an old uncancelled stamp!

Some more miscellaneous cards- these have issues with writing on the back, or just slipped through and really weren't what I wanted. I'll have to be more careful next time.

Now, when my Mom found out how much I loved my 250 postcards (no kidding! I left around 50 in the basket and shocked the volunteers working up front!)- Mom pulled out these old postcards she had saved from her father. Most are postmarked 1943 or before! These were sent to or from my Grandfather back in the day. He passed when I was 17yrs old- so it's nice to reconnect. Plus I recently made the decision to start collecting "vintage" cards that spoke to me, and these do. My Grandfather was a great letter writer and had a huge stamp collection- so I come by it honestly!

These are other's that were not sent that she also found!

What amazing finds! And sure to keep me busy for hours and hours. I'm also slowly but surely trying to collect postcards from all 50 states that say the state on the front of them. I have only a handful of states thus far (AR, AZ, CO, FL, GA, HI, IL, IN, MI, MA, NC, NM, PA, WA and the province of Puerto Rico) So it's a work in progress!

I'm still reeling from all the awesome finds and good times. I don't want to detract from the postcards so tomorrow I will highlight the other buys tomorrow!

Naughty Betty

I have recently been running across more and more of the Naughty Betty stationery. I seem to be finding it for a good price at Target where I got the Karma cards I posted awhile back and at Marshalls.

It's sassy and cute, 2 of my favorite things!

Unfortunately I don't have children, so I hope my friends like it as a gift!

The secret to happiness is do something you love every day. Find what inspires you to write and just do it!

I know I'm late for the mail call, but with good reason. I usually post what I have responded too and as it was a busy week in my real life combined with the fact that I received very few postcards. So basically, we're waiting on me. -Sigh-
